It makes the world of difference if you eat nutritious food after birth, that will help with the recovery of your body, the flow of breast milk and your emotional wellbeing. This will give both you and the baby the best possible start. You deserve that.

Over the years I have built up a whole repertoire of recipes, which are based on knowledge from Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, but of course also from the training I take to become an Orthomolecular nutritional therapist. East meets west :).

From this broad background I pick the right ingredients for my meals that help you most when it comes to healing after birth and supporting the milk production.

Now is when you need it most

I hope you had your dream birth. But maybe there were some complications after birth, like excessive blood loss. Or the birth might have taken a long time? The baby might have been born via a cesarean section.

These are all factors that influence the state your body is in and the energy you have to care for your baby. Together with the drop in hormones, short nights and the energy you need to feed your baby these are enough reasons to take good care of your body now.

Clean eating is the basis of my food. I don't cook with artificial flavorings, preservatives or refined sugars. In my meals I only use pure, organic ingredients that nourish your body and contribute to recovery after birth. The herbs and spices that I use in my dishes have a warming effect and improves milk production, so your baby also benefits from it.

To give you an idea of the meals I cook, you find a couple of examples of dishes I cook. Everything is freshly made so I can adjust it to your dietary wishes or allergies.

Nutritious meals

Kitcheri is THE one-pot Ayurvedic dish that people cook when they
need to recover from disease, injuries or when they want to give
their digestive system a break. After birthing your body needs all its
energy to recover, so this easily digestible food is perfect to restore
your energy and fill your body with a ton of nutritious ingredients. So this is almost always on the list of things I cook in the first week.

Next to that I cook other (mostly) one pot meals that are easy to heat and eat.

The base of my soups for non-vegetarian clients is bone broth. This is rich on minerals and amino acids that help with the collagen production and aids the healing of skin tissue. Wonderful both after vaginal births and c-sections. In addition, it supports your digestive system and your immune system.

The soups are great as a warm lunch option or if you feel hungry later in the afternoon.

Snacks

There is often something baking in my oven. That's why I added healthy 'snacks' to all of my meal packages. I don't use refined sugars, but make sure the snacks are tasty of course. I have a lot of gluten free and lactose free bake options as well.

The snacks are ideal in between meals, when you feed your baby or crave something in the middle of the night.
